Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM PHYSICAL THERAPY?

Evaluation: The first session starts with a comprehensive examination, that involves examining your symptoms/conditions, medical history, a systems review (clearing potential non-musculoskeletal causes), goals, and an assessment of your strength, range of motion, posture, and functional mobility. After initial treatment, We'll establish an initial home exercise program, and review a detailed outline of your treatment plan, what the findings suggest, and what to expect from physical therapy.

Follow-up Appointments: Treatments can be broken up into 3 components. First, we will focus on pain management. Focusing on reducing acute symptoms and learning how to continue reducing and managing your symptoms outside of the sessions to get you back to your normal function. Next, the focus will be on resolving the underlying cause of the issue, our goal is to provide you with a long-term solution by addressing regions that are causing or affected by your initial injury/impairment. Finally, the last stage will focus on providing you with the tools for long-term self-management. An exercise program is one thing, but knowing what caused the injury, how to prevent it again, and what to do if it returns, I believe is one of the most valuable things a patient can receive from physical therapy.

DO I NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR FIRST FOR A REFERRAL?

No, Michigan’s direct access physical therapy laws allow you to recover faster while saving time and money by being able to immediately see a Physical Therapist. In Michigan, you can receive physical therapy services without a referral “for 21 days or 10 treatments, whichever occurs first” or when “seeking physical therapy services for purposes of injury prevention or promoting fitness”.  Through the consultation call, evaluation, and your treatment response your Physical Therapist will help determine if physical therapy is the best approach for you and we will help direct you to the appropriate healthcare provider if necessary.

Wellness, general health, and fitness services generally do not require a medical referral but you may be advised to consult a doctor depending on any related medical history or conditions.

WHAT ARE MY PAYMENT AND INSURANCE OPTIONS?

To expand beyond our roots as a self-pay business, we partnered with a third-party company to improve our ability to take your insurance. This structure allows us to improve the accessibility to our treatment team while still striving to provide you with high-quality one-on-one care with an experienced Doctor of Physical Therapy and deliver the care that you require and deserve.

I'M WORRIED ABOUT THE COST OF PT, DO I HAVE ANY OPTIONS?

There have always been numerous barriers to physical therapy (ex. time, costs, energy, insurance, transportation) that can prevent even the most motivated patients from attending physical therapy. Improving the accessibility of physical therapy has always been one of the major goals of Relief All Day PT and we strive to go beyond just reducing the time and transportation barriers. We understand that financial barriers can be a major limitation to participating in physical therapy and we hope to alleviate some of these burdens. Please reach out to discuss various payment or financial options.
